The Courses We Offer
We are continually looking for new course that may be of interest in the workplace, that we are able to deliver on a professional level. Below is a list of the specialist courses that we currently offer.
Defibrillator Training (Automated External Defibrillator)
Sudden cardiac arrest is a leading cause of death in Europe, affecting about 700,000 individuals a year. Many victims of sudden cardiac arrest can survive if bystanders or employees act immediately while ventricular fibrillation (VF) is still present. Successful resuscitation is unlikely once the rhythm has deteriorated to asystole.

Course Overview :: Electrical defibrillation is well established as the only effective therapy for cardiac arrest caused by VF or pulseless ventricular tachycardia (VT). The scientific evidence to support early defibrillation is overwhelming. The delay from collapse to delivery of the first shock is the single most important determinant of survival. The chances of successful defibrillation decline at a rate of 7-10% with each minute of delay. Basic life support will help to maintain a shockable rhythm but is not a definitive treatment. The Resuscitation Council (UK) strongly recommends a policy of early attempted defibrillation. This course will train First Aiders in the use of external defibrillators and the different types that are available for use. We aim to raise the trainees awareness of external defibrillators and how to best use them to aid the casualty in the fastest and most competent way possible. Course duration: 4 hours Cost: £50 per person, Maximum of 6 + vat |
Oxygen Therapy Training
Oxygen Therapy is the administration of oxygen as a therapeutic modality. Oxygen therapy benefits the patient by increasing the supply of oxygen to the lungs and thereby increasing the availability of oxygen to the body tissues.

Course Overview :: Appropriate levels of oxygen are vital to support cell respiration. High blood and tissue levels of oxygen can be helpful or damaging, depending on circumstances. Oxygen in First Aid specifically refers to the use of oxygen in a first aid setting. Oxygen will assist patients with myocardial infarction and hypoxia (low blood oxygen levels). Care needs to be exercised in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, especially in those known to retain carbon dioxide (type II respiratory failure) who lose their respiratory drive and accumulate carbon dioxide if administered oxygen in moderate concentration. For this reason, some jurisdictions require medical approval for all emergency oxygen administration. This course will help trainees to understand the need of oxygen in First Aid and to correctly identify when it is to be used. This course also covers the different delivery systems that can be used for oxygen therapy and will show the best way to administer the therapy in a way that is benificial to the patient. Course duration: 3 hours Cost: £50 per person, Maximum of 6 + vat |
Emergency First Aid for Sports
As a nation, we are becoming more active in sports with this comes the need for emergency First Aid in a sporting environment. Many companies now have sports teams and regularly play in competition with other companies in the local area. Injuries in sports are commonly considered as worse injuries than a normal sprain. This is mainly cause by the immense pressure and stain that the body is under whilst taking part in sporting activities.
There are many injuries that can be obtained from sporting events that cannot be found in the normal working environment. As such, this course is designed to provide trainees with an understanding of the types of emergencies that they can come into contact with during sporting events. Trainees will obtain all the knowledge that they need in order to cope with the injuries that they may come into.

Manual Handling
A manual handling operation may be defined as "any transporting or supporting of a load (including lifting, putting down, pushing and pulling, carrying or moving thereof) by hand or bodily force." Approximately one third of all injuries reported to the enforcing authorities are due to incorrect manual handling. Over £100million a year is lost due to injuries at work associated with incorrect manual handling. A major contributor factor is the lack of proper training, supervision, information and instruction.
